The town’s biggest platinum jubilee garden party will take place on Sunday 5th June  from 2pm at Cherry Tree Cricket Club. Blackburn Symphony Orchestra will lead an open air concert and recreate Last Night at the Proms – and so much more – on a very special day. A large choir and other artists will support the Orchestra on the day. A specially constructed stage will be built on the cricket field with guests invited to bring tables, chairs, bunting and flags, sited around the field, for a feelgood jubilee party. In addition a large marquee will be erected to house over 400 people under cover together with an outside bar, Hog Roast and Afternoon Tea.

The programme starts at 2pm with a Meet The Instruments session where people can get up close to the 42-strong orchestra, speak to the musicians and try the instruments. From 3pm till 6.30pm the Orchestra will be supported by a choir, tenors, sopranos and some guest artists as we plot our way through the great tunes of our lifetime. Then from 6.30 – 7.30pm we recreate all the pomp and ceremony of the Albert Hall with ‘Last Night at the Proms’ – encouraging maximum participation from the audience! This will be a once in a generation concert for the Queen’s Platinum Jubilee.
